The L3Harris NOVA is a binocular night vision goggle built with 18 mm unfilmed Gen 3 image intensifier tubes. It features white phosphor imagery, up to 120K maximum gain, a 39° ±1° field of view, and a modular MIL-SPEC design.
FOM, or Figure of Merit-?dti=0&lc=en-ge), is calculated using a tube's signal-to-noise ratio and resolution. A 2376 minimum FOM specification establishes the minimum FOM threshold for this NOVA configuration.
L3Harris rates NOVA for more than 30 hours of runtime using one AA lithium battery under ambient conditions. The system can also operate with an alkaline AA battery.
L3Harris lists NOVA as IP68 compliant for immersion protection. It is also MIL-SPEC certified and designed to operate across temperatures ranging from -40°C to +49°C.
The system includes the NOVA goggle, padded MOLLE carry pouch, rubber eye cups, sacrificial windows, demist shields, lens covers, operator's manual, and lens tissue.
